About our Brixton Music and Street Art Tour

Whether you are a David Bowie’s fan, a lover of reggae and the Afro-Caribbeans, you like discovering local markets, you are passionate about street art, or you’re looking for alternative London areas, this is the tour for you! Brixton is one of London’s cultural meccas, filled with a sense of community that very few other London areas can boast. Tucked away from the radar of most touristic attractions Brixton is just a few stops away from Victoria Station and is a must for anyone looking for true local experiences to do in London.

From local farmer markets, to tiny international eateries tucked away in shipping containers, to international food markets, to very unique stores and independent shops, Brixton has a wide choice of local markets and street food. From vegans, to vegetarians, to lovers of International cuisine, there is something for all tastes here. And if you want to feel like a true local you can even pay with the Brixton Pound (Brixton’s local currency) and get a special discount in over 250 businesses. On each banknote you will see the faces of Brixton’s most famous celebrities and remarkable people that have lived in the area.

Differently from most other London street art areas, Brixton has the biggest display of historical murals dating back from the 80s. During the tour we will be passing by some big murals, conserved by the council, that celebrate Brixton past and present. Alongside its historical murals, Brixton has some more current street art by artists such as Jimmy C and Dreph, depicting the people that have left a sign in the community. From David Bowie’s Brixton memorial, to key local people that have helped keeping the community together, to Michelle Obama as a symbol of the Afro-Caribbean’s power.

Throughout the years Brixton has always been an incredibly important music spot for London. With its many music bars & venues, including the famous O2 Academy (where artists such as Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, The Police, Wham!, Culture Club,  Iron Maiden, The Clash, The Prodigy, Bob Dylan and Sex Pistols have performed), Brixton is buzzing with music: from reggae, to jazz to rock. From David Bowie, to Basement Jaxx, to Bob Marley, to Adele, to Fleetwood Mac there is a never ending list of incredible artists connected to Brixton. We will be listening to tall of these during the experience and after the tour you will also receive our Brixton playlist so you can take some Brixton vibes home with you!

From London’s most undiscovered park, with its ponds and lakes, to blooming secret gardens, to communal gardens, this tour includes some stunning nature too. So get ready to relax in Brixton wildlife, walled gardens as well as seeing all the amenities that Brockwell park offers, from an open-air lido, to many sport facilities.

Energy, fun and music is what makes this experience unique and authentic. Thanks to a dynamic pace we will be turning sightseeing into cultural wellbeing that benefits our mind, body and soul and avoids many problems associated to traditional guided tours (from sore feet to back problems).

I expected to get a few facts and a nice walk. I ended up with a huge amount of steps, a wealth of knowledge on the area, and an amazing experience! This is a must-see if you're interested in going beyond the touristy parts of London! And the music that he played along the walk made it all worthwhile! I will definitely order another tour from him.

This is a fabulous way to explore a new/unknown part of London. Savio is energetic, enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable, and a wonderful tour guide. We enjoyed Brixton tour a ton, learned a lot, and saw a cool part of London that we never would have known about otherwise. And we felt great at the end of the tour (no sore feet from standing around). Would do another tour in a heartbeat!
